Keith Hopkins is a Southwest Florida businessman with vast experience that spans the globe. In 2014, he cofounded Stage Capital Group, LLC, a consulting company focused on real estate development which has just launched a private cloud-based funding platform called StageXchange. StageXchange aims to connect angel investors with vetted midsize real estate development projects. Stage’s innovative approach accelerates the due diligence process, lowers risk, and aligns the goals of investors with developers. With his diverse array of experiences spanning multiple continents, Keith envisions StageXchange as the new standard in project management. With further development, StageXchange is expected to serve as a due diligence platform well beyond real estate, eventually expanding as an investor relations vehicle for all kinds of startup businesses.
Hopkins began his career in corporate finance at Putnam Investments as a Treasury Analyst. In 2004, he began working in the real estate development business in the Boston area before moving to Southwest Florida to build his own real estate investment portfolio. While in Florida, Keith co-founded a small real estate company and later joined Hunt Construction Company, a regional developer, as their interim CFO.
Late in 2007, Hopkins was recruited to sit on the Investment Committee at Sama Dubai, the international property development arm of Dubai’s Sheikh Mohammed. In this role, Hopkins was in charge of reviewing feasibility analyses of billion-dollar development projects located across Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
After the collapse of Lehman in 2008, Hopkins returned to Florida where he successfully founded a private investment company focused on distressed residential real estate in SWFL. In 2011 with the backing of a Canadian VC firm, Hopkins launched Canus Capital in anticipation of the wave of foreclosed properties expected to hit the market.
Hopkins has been a guest speaker at the Urban Land Institute, University of Arizona, Johns Hopkins University and Georgetown University. He currently serves as an Advisor in the MPS Real Estate program at Georgetown University. He is excited to continue his journey with StageXchange as one of his most ambitious ventures with a promising future.
